The short version

Who we are

CoreTrust Consulting, Brampton, Ontario.

Trevon Halstead, founder, is accountable for how CoreTrust handles your personal information. Questions, requests and complaints go to him at coretrustc@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

InformationWhenWhy

Profile: school, program, year, province, tuition, rent, books, residence and living costs, side-income statusWhen you save the profile form while signed inTo tailor funding and credit guidance to your situation
Gender, ethnicity, athlete status (optional)Only if you choose to fill them inMany bursaries are reserved for specific groups; this is how we match you to them. Leave them blank if you prefer.
Documents you upload (e.g. an OSAP assessment)When you upload one while signed inThe file is read to fill in your profile, then discarded. We keep the document type, a short summary and the figures read from it — not the file.
Tracked applications, roadmap, documents we generate for youWhen you use those featuresTo keep your progress and remind you of deadlines
Reminder consentWhen you tick or untick the reminder boxSo we only email you if you said yes (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation)
Chat messagesWhen you use the AI advisorSent to our AI provider to generate a reply. We don't save your chat history.
Messages with CoreTrustWhen you or CoreTrust send a message in the Messages tabSo we can talk one-to-one about your situation. Stored until you delete your account.

We don't use analytics or advertising trackers. Your browser stores a sign-in token so you stay signed in; it's removed when you sign out.

Messages you send to the advisor, documents you upload, and — when the founder uses AI to help draft a reply — your recent messages with CoreTrust and a short summary of your profile, are processed by Anthropic's API, which deletes inputs and outputs within 30 days and does not use them for model training. (Anthropic may keep data longer only where needed to enforce its usage policy or meet a legal requirement.)

Information processed outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts and authorities.

Who can see your information

You, when signed in. Our database enforces that each account can read only its own records.

CoreTrust's founder can view student profiles, tracked applications and your messages with CoreTrust in an internal dashboard, to support students and improve the service. He may keep private notes and tags on your account for the same purpose; you can ask to see them. This view requires a separate founder sign-in.

Nobody else. We don't sell, rent or share your information for marketing.

Emails

We only send deadline reminders if you ticked the reminder box. To stop them, untick it in your profile, or reply to any reminder and we'll turn them off. Sign-in emails are sent only when you ask for one.

If CoreTrust sends you a message, we email you that a message is waiting (the email doesn't include the message itself). To stop these emails, reply to one and we'll turn them off. We never send bulk or marketing email.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. Accounts inactive for 24 months are deleted.
